Val: They say there are only four types of people in this world. Those who have been [00:01:00] caregivers, those who aren't currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver. Which one are you? If they're exposed to damp, mouldy condition, they get an infection, they come into hospital, and it costs the NHS a whole lot of money.

Dr Jeremy: If you have a long-term condition that affects you your whole life, just because you're not in hospital doesn't mean you don't need care. You need social care and service users like Val
Val: You understand it when it's an older person because your mind tells you older people get Strokes, heart attacks; we don't associate certain things with a young child.
Dr Jeremy: So that was hard.
Val: Yeah,
Dr Jeremy: And so, he had a stroke at two years old. Remind me, how old was your son when he was [00:02:00] diagnosed with sickle cell?
Val: Just before he had the stroke.
